Single channel projection designed as site-specific for showing at The Crypt, St Pancras Church London.
The title refers to the architectural sculptures, the caryatids found on site.
Combining recordings of close-ups of the sculptures with shots of a female dancer's improvisation the piece juxtapose movement and stillness between the sculpture and the living.
In addition the work is characterized by a different look at the female where the extreme low angles
exaggerate the muscular bodies of its female subjects.
Making of:
Originally it was designed as site-specific installation for showing at The Crypt, St Pancras Church London at MINE group show. The sculptures I have started working are the architectural sculptures of the Church. I wanted to juxtapose their enormous and heavy still presence with the movements of a dancer.
